According to the US Embassy in Brazil, starting April 10, 2025, a new visa policy will go into effect requiring all American citizens to have a valid visa to enter the country. This policy will essentially revert to pre-2019 rules and is occurring due to the fact that the US and Brazil have failed to sign a visa waiver agreement. Once issued, the eVisa will remain valid for 10 years according to CNN.

As part of the application process, you’ll need to provide your personal information, state the purpose of your trip, provide your temporary Brazilian address, show proof of your return airline tickets, and show proof of your income. You will need to provide proof of at least $2,000 in financial resources to apply for the visa. If you cannot meet this number, you will need a Brazilian sponsor or resident to provide proof on your behalf.
